Gunship
Made as an homage to the iconic handheld, side-scrolling shooter ‘Gunship’ was developed for the GB30 Game Jam, where participants had the unique challenge of working under the limitations of the original Game Boy.
Limited keys, 160x144 display, and 3 colours per sprite, ‘Gunship’ was designed to leverage any advantage I could find. This resulted in changing colour palettes across levels and menus (something admittedly the original didn’t have, but hey), as well as an arrow based cursor system to get around the lack of a mouse.
As a bonus, the webpage is customized to look like an original Game Boy.
